The classic waldorf salad recipe with its simple combination of cool crunch and creaminess is always a crowd pleaser. The sweetness of apples along with the crunch of celery, cabbage and nuts is hard to beat.

Put those few ingredients together with the creamy taste of sour cream and you have a fruit salad that's not only easy to prepare but one that everyone will enjoy.

5 Ingredients Needed:

1 large apple diced
(for a sweet taste choose red delicious or
for a tart taste choose granny smith)

celery - 1 cup finely diced

cabbage - 2 cups finely shredded

walnuts - 3/4 cup chopped

sour cream to desired moistness (start with 1 cup)

In a large bowl, toss all the salad ingredients together, adjusting the sour cream to taste.

Quick Meals - Menu Planner:

** Place waldorf salad on top of a bed of your favorite salad greens and crackers spread with cream cheese on the side.

** You could also serve this simple fruit salad scooped into avocado halves with cinnamon toast or cinnamon twists along side.

** Serve this quick fruit salad in clear dessert bowls with warm rolls or breadsticks.

*Sliced Almonds - 3/4 cup or
*Cashews - 3/4 cup chopped or
*Peanuts - 3/4 cup chopped

Instead of Sour Cream:
*Yogurt - 1 cup or to taste or
*Yogurt and Sour Cream - 1/2 cup each or to taste
