This quick ham salad recipe is a combination of ham, Swiss cheese, sweet red peppers,

crunchy celery and red onion dressed in a French dressing. A flavor packed quick salad recipe that's easy to prepare and a quick meal whenever time is short. Use the menu planner below for several serving ideas.

6 Ingredients Needed:

cooked ham (smoked or baked) - 1 cup diced into cubes

* Swiss cheese - 1 cup diced into cubes

sweet red pepper - 1 cup sliced and then medium dice

celery - 1/2 cup thinly sliced on the diagonal

red onion - 1/2 cup thinly sliced half-moons

french dressing - 1/2 cup
(choose your favorite all natural store bought brand)



*Reduce the Fat: Use low-fat or nonfat Swiss cheese.

Make Ahead:
- If cooking your ham, prepare as desired and dice 1 cup into cubes

In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ham salad ingredients. Toss well to combine.

Quick and Light Meal Ideas:

** Chill two salad plates and serve ham salad on a bed of red leaf lettuce sprinkled with a little of the Swiss cheese grated over the leaves. Add rye crackers along side the ham salad.

** Our ham salad recipe also makes a terrific pita sandwich. Simply serve this recipe for ham salad stuffed into a pita pocket topped with fresh sprouts and sweet potato chips on the side.

** For a quick and light meal, serve this quick salad in cabbage leaf cups along with several slices of tomato topped with chopped fresh basil leaves and pumpernickel pretzels on the side.

Instead of Swiss Cheese:
*Try one of the following or a combination: Sharp Cheddar, American or Smoked Gouda - 1 cup cubed

Instead of Red Pepper:
*Try one of the following: Pimento, Green Pepper or Seedless Cucumber - 1 cup medium dice

Instead of Red Onion:
*Try one of the following: Red Radishes, Jalapeno Peppers or a combo of Red Onion and Jalapeno Peppers - 1/2 cup medium dice

Instead of French Dressing:
*Try one of the following (fat reduced if you prefer): Olive Oil Vinaigrette, Blue Cheese Dressing or Ranch Dressing (choose your favorite natural store bought brand)- 1/2 cup
