Selecting:
When selecting, choose those that are plump and firm with a deep rich color. Make sure the container they are packed in is dry and shows no staining from the berries.
Also look to make sure there are no discolorations, molding, soft spots or broken berries. You also want to avoid those with a greenish coloring.
Storing and Handling:
When storing, it is important to keep them dry. Store in a dry container, unwashed and covered in the refrigerator. Depending on their freshness, they can be stored for approximately 5 to 7 days.
Preparing:
Just before serving, remove any stems and then wash the berries by swishing them in a bowl of water, making sure all dirt and debris is removed and then blot dry with a towel.
